A heartfelt thank you for Bermuda’s support of last week’s Power of a Wish gala. I’m thrilled to share that we raised an incredible $1.8 Million to grant wishes in Metro New York! More importantly, the wish families that Bermuda so graciously helped transport to the gala experienced transformational evenings. IB wanted to share the sweet note we received from Denise P. – a Wish Mom from Bethpage. Her daughter recently battled an aggressive form of cancer at the young age of 13. The family was ushered to their wish send-off to Hawai’i back in March by Bermuda and then again, brought to the gala last week with your services.

Dear Make-A-Wish friends,

We just wanted to thank you for having us at the Power of a Wish Gala!!  We had an unbelievable time at the most incredible event we have ever been to.  It was such a privilege and honor to be there.  We really enjoyed every aspect of the evening… getting all dressed up, being at such an elegant affair, talking with all of the fabulous volunteers, other wish kids, and guests.  It was so special to be in a room surrounded by such warmth, love and kindness.  We met a few of the other wish kids and Marissa really enjoyed speaking with them.  I think it had a very positive impact on Marissa in the sense that she saw adult “wish kids”.  Sometimes I think she fears what is ahead in her future since all she has already gone through.  There is always that feeling of what’s next for me health-wise.  So I think it kind of gave her piece of mind to see these adults who shared their stories and how they were there looking better than ever and all grown up.

Thank you again for giving us ANOTHER happy memory !!  We are trying really hard to make many happy memories to replace the year we would like to not remember.

Thank you for allowing Make-A-Wish to host Marissa and her family as we celebrated 35 years of wishes in New York City. We were thrilled that Marissa was able to meet fellow Wish Kids who are now 15+ years from their critical disease and thriving as adults. We couldn’t have done it without Bermuda.
